The Digitale Allmend is a Swiss association founded in 2006 with headquarters in Aarau , which is committed to ensuring public access to digital goods and their further development.

The name “digital commons” refers to the digital commons of knowledge . According to the Tages-Anzeiger, the digital commons is shaping the network policy debates in Switzerland with events and is the point of contact for media professionals in matters of network policy.

The digital commons is part of the digital society in Switzerland.

Focus

The Digital Allmend promotes the production and distribution of free works and takes care of the protection of public domain Cultural Property ( public domain ) against unauthorized appropriation for the purposes of copyright and other intellectual property rights (Copy fraud) . It tries to sensitize the public to problems and contemporary solutions in the field of intellectual property in the digital age.

The association organizes courses and events, among others with the concept office of the Rote Fabrik in Zurich or with speakers such as Cory Doctorow .

At the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property (IGE), Digitale Allmend takes part in the annual copyright talks and brings in the interests of the authors of free works. In cooperation with the Digital Allmend association, the IPI has published a compilation of frequently asked questions and answers about the public domain.

The association leads the Creative Commons in Switzerland and is responsible for adapting the CC licenses to Swiss law with a team of three legal experts. As representatives of CC Switzerland, members appear regularly as speakers at conferences on copyright and Creative Commons.

The association repeatedly expresses itself in the media or in discussions on the subject of network politics in Switzerland.
