Digital radioscopy is a method of non-destructive testing of materials . It uses X-rays to search for defects in components. Internationally it becomes DR for Engl. Called “digital radioscopy”.

The testing facilities use X-ray tubes that generate continuous X-rays. These penetrate the components to be tested in the system. A detector processes the data into a live image that is transmitted to a monitor. Material defects become visible there. The components can be moved using maneuvering methods. The operating personnel can control the movement using joysticks from fully protective cabins.

To penetrate metal parts, higher radiation energies are required than for X-ray systems in the medical-diagnostic field. The plants are therefore continuously monitored by the trade supervisory authority.
