Dinette
A dinette (from English dinette "dining corner" or "dining niche") is a seat combination of two opposing bench seats with a table in between in mobile homes , caravans and smaller boats.
The dinette can often be converted into a sleeping place. To do this, the table is lowered to the level of the bench boxes. On the surface created in this way, the seat cushions are laid out together with the back cushions as a mattress.
This seat-lounger combination is particularly common in mobile homes that are built on the basis of box vans in order to save space.
A so-called half dinette is increasingly found in modern mobile homes. The front bench that is oriented against the direction of travel is dispensed with here. It is possible to turn the driver's seat and often also the front passenger seat and, in the case of luxury vehicles, raise it. The advantage of the half dinette is the smaller space requirement and the smaller distance between the driver's cab and dinette seats during the journey. The lower winter resistance often proves to be a disadvantage, as the driver's cab, in contrast to a full dinette solution, cannot be completely separated from the living area.
