Diogenes of Tarsus

Diogenes of Tarsus ( ancient Greek Διογένης Diogénēs ) was an ancient Greek philosopher ( Epicurean ). He most likely lived in the 2nd half of the 2nd century BC. Chr.

Diogenes came from the city of Tarsos in Asia Minor . According to a message from the ancient geographer Strabo , he dealt with philosophy and poetic improvisations.

Diogenes Laertios lists the following titles from his writings :

  • Ἐπίλεκτοι σχολαί (“Selected Studies / Lectures”) in at least 20 books
  • Ἐπιτομὴ τῶν Ἐπικούρου ἠθικῶν δογμάτων ("Outline of the ethical tenets of Epicurus ") in at least 12 books
  • Ποιητικὰ ζητήματα ("Questions of poetry")
