Diomedea Island is a tussock- covered island in the archipelago of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It belongs to the Kuprijanow Islands and is located west of Poncet Island .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009. The name is the Latin name for the wandering albatross ( Diomedea exulans ), whose breeding grounds the island belongs to.
