Direct 8 was a free-to-air French television station founded on July 24, 2001 by entrepreneur Vincent Bolloré . The official start took place on March 31, 2005, Direct is French and means “without delay” ( live ). In the beginning, only live broadcasts were broadcast, but in the end this was no longer the case. On October 7, 2012, Direct 8 was discontinued after a takeover by Groupe Canal + and replaced by D8, which was later renamed C8.
