Directoire (style)

The Directoire ( French ; German "Directory") is a style that can be assigned to Classicism , the heyday of which falls during the reign of the Directory in France (1795–1799). It lies between the early classicist Louis-Seize and the Napoleonic Empire .

The protagonists of the Directoire style were the architects Charles Percier (1764-1838) and Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine (1762-1853), who later became leading representatives of the Empire style.
