Direct demand matrix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The direct requirement matrix contains the units of measure of raw materials and intermediate products that are required to manufacture these products. The matrix can be developed from the Gozintograph . The total requirements matrix can be drawn up from the direct requirements matrix .

Structure of the matrix

Each line of the matrix describes the number of pieces a product or raw material is contained in other products. Conversely, each column of the matrix shows the quantities in which the other products or raw materials are contained in a product. From a purely mathematical point of view, it is only the weight matrix of the respective gozintograph .

In the following general direct demand matrix, P stands for the end product, Z 1 to Z n for intermediate products and R 1 to R m for the raw materials required. x 1 1 to x m + n + 1 m + n + 1 are the corresponding quantities. The back columns are filled with zeros (no other products are contained in raw materials) in order to make the matrix square. This property is required in order to calculate the total requirements matrix from it.
