The Directorate for European Affairs (DEA) by 2012. Integration Office , based in Bern will on behalf of the Swiss Government :

  • monitor European integration policy and analyze and assess its effects on Switzerland
  • coordinate the European policy of the federal government - integration law and integration policy matters, contracts with the EU (together with other administrative bodies)
  • provide information on Swiss European policy and European integration.

It existed from 1961 to 2012 as a joint agency of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (FDEA). With the department reform on January 1, 2013, the Integration Office, as the Directorate for European Affairs (DEA), reports exclusively to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
