Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse

A distributed checksum clearinghouse ( DCC ) system is used to identify spam emails .

It works on clients and servers , the checksums collect emails. Clients can e.g. B. the home PC with a spam filter program but also an SMTP server. The clients forward the checksum to a (public) DCC server. The checksum uniquely identifies an e-mail and, based on the number of times this e-mail was received, other clients that retrieve the information from a DCC server can identify an e-mail as spam and filter it out if necessary.

A special feature of the checksum is that it also applies to an email if small parts of it have changed.

costs

The client for DCC can be used free of charge, provided that no filter services are offered for non-own users and that the DCC network is contributed to. Alternatively, a commercial version is available.
