District Vicar

District vicar (Latin vicarius , also provincial vicar ) was a name for the leading clergyman for one or more provinces of the Congregation for Observance of the Augustinian order in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Duties and powers

The duties of the district vicar were to visit the individual monasteries . He had decision-making powers and could, for example, set up or remove priors .
