Divaena haywardi is a species of butterfly fromthe owl butterfly family (Noctuidae).
features
butterfly
The wingspan of the moth is 33 to 37 millimeters. The color of the upper forewing varies from light reddish to reddish brown. Cross lines as well as ring and kidney defects are clearly drawn and laid out or bordered in white. The upper side of the hind wing is bright yellow, provided with a wide black band on the outer edge and shows two blackish lines that run from the basal region to the outer edge. The black, crescent-shaped discal spot is sometimes indistinct.
Caterpillar
Fully grown caterpillars are light brown to dark brown in color and black-brown. The broad side lines are creamy white in color.
distribution and habitat
The species is locally distributed in south-east Europe and west Asia. Their height distribution ranges from sea level up to 1900 meters. The main habitat are dry, hot bush landscapes and sparse pine forests.
Way of life
The flight time of the nocturnal moths falls from June to September. They like to visit artificial light sources, as well as bait . There is no information about the food plants of the caterpillars in the field. In breeding, dandelion and lettuce species ( Lactuca ) as well as various grasses and knotweed ( Polygonum aviculare ) were accepted as food.
