Division I (chess) 1980/81

The 1980/81 season was the 12th season of the Allsvenskan in chess.

Division I Norra

In the northern season, the two final places were fiercely contested. In the end, Upsala ASS and Wasa SK prevailed, while Solna Schacksällskap and last year's champion SK Rockaden Stockholm were left behind . However, the decision at the bottom of the table was clear, the two relegated Västerås ASK and Akademiska SK Uppsala were each four points behind the saving sixth place.

Division I Södra

In the southern season, the SK Kamraterna clearly prevailed, but the second place, which was able to secure at the end of the Lunds ASK , was hard-fought . The Malmö Schacksällskap and the Helsingborgs Schacksällskap had to relegate without a chance, they drew in a direct comparison and lost all other competitions.

Final tournament

The final tournament took place in Gothenburg from April 3rd to 5th . The SK Kamraterna and the Wasa SK each started with a win and a draw in order to play out the championship title in a direct comparison in the final round. With a narrow victory, SK Kamraterna became Swedish team champions.
