The tournament was divided into a preliminary round and a final round. The eight participating teams first played a simple round-robin tournament . The first four played for the title in Poule Haute , the last four in Poule Basse against relegation. The total of the team points (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat), then the number of board points (3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a one loss, 0 points for an uncompromising loss). For the final placement, both the points from the preliminary round and the points from the final round were taken into account.
Game dates
The competitions were held on October 1 and 22, November 12 and 26, December 10, 2006, January 14 and 28, February 11, March 4 and 18, 2007.
Preliminary round
The field of participants turned out to be a two-tier society, so that the division of the final rounds was determined ahead of time. The only countable success of the second half of the table against the first was the victory of the second team of Le Cavalier Differdange against Gambit Bonnevoie .
Echternach had the best starting position with 12: 2 points, but had to give up the championship lead to Dudelange due to a draw with Bonnevoie and a defeat against Differdange. A win in direct comparison would have been enough for Echternach to defend its title, but Dudelange won and thus became champions.
After the preliminary round, the teams were still close together (the second teams from Dudelange and Differdinge as well as Esch each had 4 points, Schëffleng 2), but the decision in the relegation battle had already been made before the last round against Dudelange's second team and Schëffleng.
