Dohrer mill

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dohrer Mühle is a water mill on the Ellerbach near Ediger-Eller / Mosel . The mill is often the subject of stories and songs from the Moselle region. Today the Dohrer mill is in ruins.

The best-known traditional story in which the Dohrer mill appears is the legend Die Goldmühle im Ellerbach . It describes the origins of the mill and is about the greedy miller Alois, who makes a pact with the devil. The song from the mill in Ellerbachtal is an orally transmitted, Moselle folk song.

Song of the mill in the Ellerbachtal

First verse
There is a mill in the Ellerbachtal,
It rattles so quietly to itself.
There is a mill in the Ellerbachtal,
It rattles so quietly.
refrain
And where I go and stand
In the valley and on the heights,
I have the mill, the mill in mind
The mill in the Ellerbachtal.
