Dojikko

As dojikko ( Jap. ドジっ娘 ) is a Japanese , usually female character archetype called, which is characterized by extreme clumsiness ( doji distinguished). These characters often fall over, run into obstacles in the way or stumble over every little edge. Although they are aware of these mishaps, they always show their good side and regret their ineptitude.

Dojikkos usually do very little damage, but can trigger a chain reaction of misfortunes in accordance with the domino effect .

An affection for dojikko figures is as Dojikko- Moe ( ドジっ娘萌え hereinafter).

Dojikko actually only refers to female figures. A male exception is Eisuke Hondō from Detective Conan , who is explicitly referred to as Dojikko, in the spelling ド ジ っ 子 .

Use in manga and anime

Dojikko have a longer tradition as character types, even if the term emerged later. In the Mahoromatic manga , Minawa doesn't seem to know of an item that she couldn't fall over, and most of the time she is busy apologizing. Ayu from Canon has a habit of running over the protagonists and is close to tears when she apologizes.

In the satirical anime television series Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei , the otherwise serious Chiri tries herself as a dojikko in one of the episodes. Hoping to receive more love from those around them, the attempt ends in disaster.
