Doctor solution

The doctor solution ( English doctor solution ) is a toxic, corrosive solution of lead oxide in sodium hydroxide . The resulting aqueous solution of sodium plumbite Na 2 PbO 2 · 3H 2 O is used to detect hydrogen sulfide or mercaptans . This verification procedure is called the doctor test .

In addition, the doctor solution is the basis of the doctor process , a chemical-physical process for the desulphurisation of motor fuel , aviation fuel and solvents.
