Documentation BOM

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The documentation parts list differs from the production parts list in that it focuses on the area of repair and maintenance , as not all parts relevant to production are also used for repairs. Documentation BOMs are often used in interactive spare parts catalogs in connection with exploded views.

Reasons for discrepancies

  • Non-detachable connected components (welding, riveting, soldering, gluing, pressing, ...) consist of several parts in the production parts list, but only the assembled part is relevant in the documentation.
  • Purchased parts (depending on the vertical range of manufacture ) are usually not part of in-house production and are therefore not available as a parts list or assembly in the details required for documentation ( outsourcing )
  • Market policy decisions
  • Service level (not all parts are suitable for being replaced by service personnel)
