Dolmen Placa
The Dolmen Placa (also called Lo Zappa) is located in an olive grove in the Lo Zappa district in Melendugno in the province of Lecce in Apulia in Italy .
description
The megaliths of the small dolmen are made from local blocks of tufa . The roughly square ceiling plate with irregular sides has a hole about 14 cm in diameter on the outer surface. The slab of uneven thickness is supported by six monolithic bearing stones. An orthostat is missing on the west side , the fragments of which lie on the ground.
Discovered in 1909 by G. Palumbo, the 0.9 m high trapezoidal dolmen is 1.25 to 1.96 m wide and 2.15 m long. The cover plate has a thickness of 0.17 to 0.4 m. The access is in the northwest.
