Dolmen du Bois-de-Monfarbeau
The Dolmen du Bois-de-Monfarbeau 1 + 2 (also called A + B Dolmens de Ternant or Le Poiset 1 + 2) are located in the forest west of Ternant , near the “Hameau de Rolle” road (D1048) to Détain-et- Bruant in the Côte-d'Or department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
Dolmen 1 ⊙ (also called Le petit dolmen) is closer to the road in the remains of its tumulus . Several bearing stones, some of which have been relocated, and the capstone have been preserved.
Dolmen 2 ⊙ (also called Le grand dolmen) has a large, relatively thin ceiling slab that rests on one side on a bricked stone pillar, otherwise on the bearing stones of the chamber. Excavations in 1984 found over 400 bones from twenty people, as well as stone tools, a polished ax , a bone awl, ceramics from the bell-cup culture and animal bones.
