Marcilly-le-Hayer dolmen
The three dolmens of Marcilly-le-Hayer (not the dolmen of Marcilly ) are the "Dolmen de la Pierre Couverte" (not to be confused with the dolmen Pierre Couverte of Pontigné, Duneau and Parigné-le-Pôlin), the " Dolmen de Vamprin ”and the“ Dolmen Les Blancs Fossés ”. They are located in the hamlet of Marcilly-le-Hayer in the Aube department in France . Near the so-called standing menhir of Vamprin. Dolmen de la Pierre Couverte
The east-west oriented Dolmen de la Pierre Couverte by Marcilly-le-Hayer, located in the middle of a field, consists of two bearing stones arranged at an angle, a long, narrow capstone and another non-bearing stone. It is probably the remainder of a simple dolmen ( French dolmen simple ).
The Dolmen de Vamprin
The dolmen has two parallel, southwest-northeast oriented bearing stones, two non-bearing end stones, a stone remnant that should be part of the capstone and an oval, overlying capstone. The Dolmen des Fosses Blancs has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1936.
The Menhir de Vamprin is a rock that may already be mentioned in ancient texts. Some archaeologists believe the stone is a remnant of the hill that once covered the dolmen. However, opinions are divided.
The dolmen Les Blancs Fossés
The dolmen Les Blancs Fossés (German: white trenches) is located east of Bercenay-le-Hayer and is a simple dolmen, the chamber remains of three U-shaped supporting stones, which have a roughly triangular, one-sided protruding 3.5 m long capstone wear, which is probably the rest of a larger plate. The chamber of the dolmen, about 750 m from the Dolmen de Vamprin, measures about 2.0 × 1.0 meters and is about 1.0 meters high. The Dolmen des Fossés Blancs has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1936.
