Velilla dolmen
From the 3rd millennium BC The dolmen of Velilla , which originated in the 4th century BC, is located on a small hill north of the town of "Osorno la Mayor", in the direction of "Abia de las Torres", in the province of Palencia in Spain .
The lower preserved area of the round collective grave with a diameter of about 20.0 meters consists of ten large limestone blocks on which a stone layer of many long, narrow stones rests, which are surrounded by the remains of a stone-offset mound about 40.0 meters in diameter. The chamber floor of the dolmen , which was probably covered by a cantilever vault that formed a dome, is made of chopped limestone.
Inside, the bones of more than 100 people were found, some of whom were sprinkled with red ocher . Bone figures decorated with geometric and capricorn-like patterns, jewelry ( pearls ) as well as axes , knives and arrowheads made of flint were found as grave goods .
