The cathedral pharmacy is originally a pharmacy founded in 1856 as the Adler pharmacy by Friedrich Wilhelm Baum (1802–1877) in Essen - Borbeck .

Company history

The beginnings - from 1856

Friedrich Wilhelm Baum opened the first pharmacy in Essen-Borbeck

On July 10, 1856, Friedrich Wilhelm Baum received the license to set up the first pharmacy in Borbeck from the Royal Ministry for Medical Affairs. He opened it at Wilhelmstrasse 36. On May 1, 1913, the Adler pharmacy moved into the building at Marktplatz 1 (today: Borbecker Platz 1).

At the time of the Weimar Republic

During the Weimar Republic , December 29, 1921 marked a pioneering change in ownership. Ludwig Wirtz took over the Adler pharmacy from Rudolph, Fritz and Gustav Baum for "one hundred and twenty thousand Mk ".

Reconstruction after 1945

“At the end of October 1945, Borbeck was in ruins. There is hardly a house on the market that is still habitable. "

Günter Ziegon took over the management of the pharmacy and restored the pharmacy. Thus, from January 1, 1946, the daily supply of patients with medication could be restored.
