Dom Bosco (Minas Gerais)
Dom Bosco , officially Portuguese Município de Dom Bosco , is a municipality in Minas Gerais in central southeast Brazil. It is northeast of Paracatu and 85 km southeast of Unaí .
The community is located at 610 meters, had an area of 822 km² (2017: 817.383 km²) and at the 2010 census, 3814 inhabitants (2008: 3839, 2007: 3781, 2003: 3976). The population was estimated on July 1, 2018 at 3699 inhabitants.
It was founded in 1995. Patron saint is St. Don Giovanni Bosco ( Portuguese Dom João Belchior Bosco ).
The most important branch of the economy is cattle breeding (2006: 34,000) and arable farming: grain (1,700 ha), soy (450 ha), beans, rice, and occasionally coffee and mango. There are around 400 farms in the municipality (2006: 406), which employ around 1/3 of the population.
The community has 4 primary schools (2006: 826 students) and one middle school (2006: 224 students), 2 hospitals, but no banking institute.
The state road MG-188 and the federal road BR-251 lead to Unaí.
