Domain awareness system

The Domain Awareness System is a monitoring system developed by Microsoft . It was developed for New York City and is intended to be used for terror and crime prevention, manhunt and law enforcement. Videos from 3000 surveillance cameras , 600 particle detectors and over 100 license plate readers are available to the system. The system is not supposed to use face recognition .

On August 8, 2012, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced a crime- fighting partnership with Microsoft .

New York has an agreement with Microsoft that the city will receive 30% of the revenue if another city buys the system.
