The Minden Cathedral Building Association was founded in June 1946 to promote the reconstruction of Minden Cathedral in the East Westphalian city ​​of Minden in post-war Germany. history

The Minden Cathedral Building Association was founded on June 28, 1946 when Minden Cathedral, which had been destroyed by the effects of the war, was to be rebuilt and the state authorities, as building maintenance staff for Minden Cathedral, could not provide enough money to finance the reconstruction. This only succeeded to a greater extent after the Federal Republic of Germany was founded in 1949.

After the successful reconstruction of Minden Cathedral and its re-consecration in 1957, the Dombau-Verein takes care of the furnishing, further reconstruction and preservation of the cathedral and the cathedral treasury , the new construction and redesign of the Förderverein in 2016/2017 with around 2.2 Million euros supported.

Chairperson

The first chairman of the Minden Cathedral Building Association was the district president in Minden, Dr. Paul Zenz , who served from 1946 to 1955. The first managing director was the architect Werner March , who was commissioned with the reconstruction of the cathedral . At the end of the 20th century, Werner Rösener in particular shaped the cathedral building association as managing director. Rösener died in 2002. The former managing director, Hans-Jürgen Amtage , has been chairman of the friends ' association since March 2016 , and Dietrich Seele has been in charge of the management.

The cathedral building association has been supported by the West German Lottery since 1975 according to their proof of use together with the cathedral building associations in Cologne , Xanten, Essen , Wesel, Aachen and Soest with 70 million euros.
