Dominique Corroyer (born August 25, 1964 in Denain ) is a former French football player and later coach .

Player career

Corroyer was included in the professional squad of the French second division US Valenciennes-Anzin in 1982 and became a regular after an initial role as a reservist. Over the years he never managed to get promoted with the team, not even when he achieved the best goal yield of his career with 13 goals in the 1988/89 season. After he failed in 1990 with the team extremely close to the jump into the top division, he was still able to rise to this when he signed with AS Saint-Étienne , which had made him an offer as one of several top division clubs . Although he got a regular place, on the one hand he had to fight relegation and was also out for a long time due to injury.

When Valenciennes was promoted to the first division in 1992, the player returned to his former club. At first he came to regular appearances, but had to accept after only one goal in the course of the 1992/93 season at the end of the fall into the second division; the associated departure of Francis Smerecki resulted in his final ousting from the first team. In view of this, he ended his professional career in 1994 at the age of 29 after 64 first division games with nine goals and 225 second division games with 64 goals. However, he remained loyal to football as he signed with third division FC Rouen that same year . At Rouen he scored 30 goals in 31 games after several years with a low scoring, which secured him the title of top scorer; due to financial problems he did not save the club from falling out of the league. In 1995 he returned again to Valenciennes, which now also had to compete in the third division; Corroyer remained loyal to the club after its forced relegation in 1996 for another year before he finally gave up playing in 1997.

Coaching career

The ex-professional began his coaching career as a youth coach for his former employer Valenciennes. He then took over responsibility for the first team of the sixth class traditional club Stade Béthune from 2003 to 2006 . In 2007 he was hired to coach an amateur team.
