Domino (garment)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A domino is a calf-length, black, mostly silk cape without sleeves and with a hood . The domino could have contributed to the origin of the name of the condom .

use

Originally the domino was part of the clothing of clergymen in Italy. From the 16th century onwards, however, it was often used as a disguise when going on a secret date . Both the garment itself and its wearer were then referred to as domino (from Latin dominus "lord").

The domino is still often used as a disguise today; The figure of the domino , which plays a role in the street carnival in Schwyz, probably also originally had something to do with the item of clothing. In everyday life, however, dominoes no longer play a role.
