Donald J. Stoker

Donald J. Stoker (born August 26, 1964 ) is an American military scientist .

Life

Stoker studied English at Bainbridge State College in Bainbridge, Georgia (AA 1987) and history at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia (BA 1989, MA 1990). A stay abroad took him to the University of Sunderland in Sunderland, England. His Ph.D. he made in 1997 in diplomacy and military history at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.

He initially taught at Bainbridge State College, Florida State University and Yellowstone Baptist College before joining the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California in 1999 . In 1999 he was Adjunct Lecturer and in 2002 Visiting Associate Professor of Strategy and Policy at the College of Distance Education at the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. In 2002 he completed the Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) program, Phase I. In 2005, he became Professor of Strategy and Policy at the NPS.

In 2012 he gave the Perspectives in Military History Lecture Series at the United States Army War College .

He published in u. a. Military History Quarterly , Naval History, and North & South .
