The Valdosta State University (also VSU called) is a state university in Valdosta in the US state of Georgia located in the south of the state. It is part of the University System of Georgia . The college was founded in 1906. There are currently 10,888 students enrolled here.

history

Valdosta State University was founded in 1906, but did not begin teaching until 1913 (women only), then under the name South Georgia State Normal College . In 1922 it was renamed Georgia State Woman's College at Valdosta . In 1950 it was renamed Valdosta State College and has been recognized as a regional university since 1993. It has been known by its current name since 1998. In the same year she also introduced the University System of Georgia semester system .

Sports

The Valdosta State University sports teams are the Blazers . The university is a member of the Gulf South Conference (Eastern Division) .
