State university system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A state university system is an association of state universities supported by a state in the United States . Every US state has at least one such system. A state university system has its own legal personality with central administration. Some state university systems have more than one campus, each of which appears to the outside world as an independent university.

In addition to the public colleges, the state university systems form the state university landscape in the USA. They are largely borne by the respective states. The level of financial support varies from state to state. The aim of government support is to keep tuition fees low so that large parts of the population can study at a university. However, as more and more Americans choose to study in recent years, tuition fees are skyrocketing.
