The University of West Georgia (also called UWG or West Georgia ) is a state university in Carrollton in the US state of Georgia , about 80 km west of Atlanta . It is part of the University System of Georgia . The college was founded in 1906 . There are currently 10,200 students enrolled here.
She has the only Honors College in Georgia.
history
The University of West Georgia was founded in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural and Mechanical School . In 1933 it was renamed West Georgia College . In 1971 the number of students rose to 6,000.
Sports
The Georgia West sports teams are the Wolves . The university is a member of the Gulf South Conference (Eastern Division) .
