A donkey jacket (Engl. Donkey jacket ) is a buttoned jacket of dark-colored wool felt, often with a plastic trim, rarely made of leather, over the shoulders. These trimmings are mostly of the same color, but rarely bright yellow or orange. It is supposed to protect the jacket when dirty objects are carried on the shoulder, from which the name is derived, since a donkey is also a porter . The donkey jacket typically has two outside pockets.

It is considered a typical item of clothing for British workers and is particularly often found in skinhead circles because of its relation to the working class . Like the Harrington and Bomber jacket, it is often worn by psychobillys and mods .
