Thunder sheet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The thunder sheet is a musical instrument belonging to the idiophones . The instrument usually consists of a rectangular sheet of sheet metal with a side length of 1 to 1.50 meters and two handles with which it is bent and the large sheet metal sheet gives off its own sound. This sound gives the thunder sheet its name, as it is reminiscent of the rumble of thunder.

In the symphony orchestra , the thunder plate is assigned to the percussion . One application for the thunder sheet is the Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss , where thunderstorms and storms are accompanied by the thunder sheet. The thunder sheet is also used in the theater and for setting films and radio plays.
