The double-T yard is a type of estate that is particularly common in Upper and Lower Austria . The building consists of two transverse wings, the living and the service wing, and the stable as a longitudinal wing in between, with the roof ridge being the same height on all four sides. Usually the building has one floor, the roofs are relatively steep.

Both stones (mostly sandstone, rarely also granite) and burnt bricks are found as building materials. Originally the facades were not plastered or simply plastered white. In the recent past, many owners have plastered the facades, especially in the residential wing. There are numerous farms of this type, especially in the southwestern part of Lower Austria's Mostviertel, the Eisenwurzen .

The particularly thick walls of at least half a meter, but also up to one meter, offer the advantage of high storage mass. In addition, there are relatively small windows, mostly square in shape. On hot summer days, these offer a pleasantly cool climate.
