In process engineering, a double-walled container is an apparatus (usually a stirred tank ) that consists of a container that is "enveloped" by another container in the cylindrical and bottom area. The jacket space is created between the two containers, through which a heating medium (e.g. steam ) or cooling media such as water or brine can flow. Enamelled agitator tanks are standardized in DIN 28136.

In order to ensure a high flow rate of the medium in the shell space, flow nozzles are built into the shell connections.
