The Dorotheenkirche is the Evangelical Lutheran church of the parish of Loxten (Nortrup) .

The church was named after Dorothea Freifrau von Hammerstein-Loxten, b. von Rössing, who are committed to promoting the ev.-luth. Diaspora community began. Protestant church services have been held on the estate of the Barons von Hammerstein since the end of the 18th century. In 1841 the parish was founded. Since 1854 it had its own regular pastor's office.

In 1843 the landlord von Hammerstein made the building site available for the construction of a church. The building capital was raised from the municipality's own funds, donations and grants from the Gustav-Adolf-Verein . The plans for the neo-Gothic building were designed by Conrad Wilhelm Hase based on the Baccum church, which he also built . The nave was lengthened by a yoke compared to the original, and the tower was raised. The foundation stone was laid on June 1, 1859, and the inauguration took place on October 18, 1860.

Hase also designed the interior, altar and organ front. The organ was built in 1860 by the Osnabrück organ builder Rohlfing . It was replaced by new buildings in 1903 and 1960/61. During the latter renovation, Hase's organ front was also changed.
