Loxten (Nortrup)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Loxten was a district of Nortrup until 1972 . It formed the southern part of the municipality called Nortrup-Loxten in the 19th century. With the municipality and territorial reform, Loxten was politically divided into a northern and a southern half; The latter was reassigned to Ankum .

geography

Loxten's area is approx. 5 km². It is just that the only elevation is a motte (castle), probably built in the 11th century, in the east on the new border with Ankum. The highest point is about 42 m above sea level in the south and falls to 33 m above sea level in the north.

Loxten is crossed and drained by the Kohlriedenbach in the west and by the Reitbach, formerly called Loxtener Mühlenbach. The first mill is mentioned in the 15th century.

Gut Loxten moated castle

Manor Loxten

In the second half of the 15th century, Gut Loxten was built from a peasant heritage . Rixa von Brawe probably brought this as a dowry to the marriage with Johann von Dincklage . In 1682 an inheritance from Frydag zu Buddenburg sold it to Christian Günther von Hammerstein . Shortly before his death, Christian Günther von Hammerstein began building today's listed two-story mansion in the style of the Dutch Renaissance . His widow completed the work in 1698. The estate is still owned by the Barons von Hammerstein .

A previous building was possibly the Felddieksboll , a tower hill castle , a little further away .
