Dorstone Castle is an Outbound castle in the village of Dorstone , about 10 km east of Hay-on-Wye in the English county of Herefordshire .

It was a moth , believed to date from the 12th century when the De Sollers family owned the estate .

Fortification against Owain Glyndŵr

In 1403 King Henry IV transferred the castle to Walter Fitzwalter, 5th Baron Fitzwalter , who was supposed to fortify it against the Welsh rebels from Owain Glyndŵr .

After that, Dorstone Castle went through many hands. Lady FitzWalter died around 1422 and later the castle belonged to Richard de la Mare and then to the Lyster family who sold it to Morgan Aubrey . In 1780 it was bought by the Cornewall family from the nearby village of Moccas .

Today only the earthworks of the castle remain.
