Downtown (comedy duo)

Downtown ( japan. ダ ウ ン タ ウ ン ) is a Japanese comedy duo consisting of Matsumoto Hitoshi ( 松 本人 志 ) and Hamada Masatoshi ( 浜 田 雅 功 , "Hama-chan"), who have been friends since their school days in Amagasaki , Hyōgo Prefecture . The "station wagon" originally included other classmates.

Downtown is an extraordinarily popular and influential combination of the artist agency Yoshimoto Kōgyō : Active as a young and idiosyncratic comedy group since 1983 , they are primarily at home in Manzai , but are also known as hosts of various Japanese variety shows. Matsumoto occasionally appears in films and television dramas, has attempted entry into the music industry and has a regular place in television advertising.
