history

As a connection between the train station and the district poor house, a footbridge was built in 1904 , which was called Karlsteg. The footbridge was replaced in 1927 by a concrete bridge designed by the architect Anton Potyka , which was built by the state (federal government) and was initially called the Chancellor's Bridge . After the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany the bridge to the SS man Erich Schredt was named (1908-1934), who in July Putsch was killed. After the liberation of Austria in 1945, the bridge was named after Karl Renner , who was under house arrest in the Renner Villa Gloggnitz during the Nazi era . The bridge was renovated in 1995.
