Kirchensteig 3 KG
location
: Gloggnitz
The first documented mention of today's Gloggnitz Castle, which was originally a Benedictine monastery or a Benedictine provostry, dates back to 1094. In the north-northwest area, the medieval monastery complex consists of fortifications, which in the west merge first into the former Karner, today's Michael's chapel, and then into the baroque two to three-storey building wings. The long, three-story south wing is visible from afar.

In the inner courtyard of Gloggnitz Castle is the former parish church (until 1962) Maria Schnee, a partially baroque Gothic building that was created in the 14th century and which is based on a Romanesque church building (mid-12th century). The church consists of a nave with a polygonal closed choir and a sacristy attached to the north. A Romanesque side chapel on the south wall and the proposed west tower with a lantern bulb cover complete the building.
