In the two finals for the 1972 World Cup against CA Independiente from Argentina, however, he had to pull behind him once in a 1-1 draw in the industrial suburb of Avellaneda in Bonaren. Ajax took the title with a 2-0 win in the second leg. After the European Cup win against Panathinaikos in 1971, Stuy was allowed to play as a striker in the still outstanding league game against the Go Ahead Eagles from Deventer , but remained without a goal.

Heinz Stuy - who was nicknamed Kroket because he often let go of high balls like a hot croquette before he could control them with a second grip - was never used in the national team. Here dominated Jan van Beveren , Jan Jongbloed and Piet Schrijvers , who took over his position in the Ajax goal from the 1974th Heinz Stuy holds yet another record: together with Bernd Dürnberger , who celebrated a European Cup hat-trick with FC Bayern Munich from 1974 to 1976 , with eleven titles he is likely to be the player with the most important club titles who never played for his national team . Stuy ended his career with FC Amsterdam in the 1977/78 season with 16 more league games.

After completing his career, he ran a successful winery in Driehuis , which he sold in 2007. In addition, from 1988 to 1998 he was goalkeeping coach at his home club Telstar, albeit with an interruption.
