Hubert Gessner
Hubert Johann Karl Gessner (born October 20, 1871 in Wallachian Klobouk ; † January 29, 1943 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect .
Life
Hubert Gessner worked and learned in Otto Wagner's office in 1898 and 1899 . From 1907 to 1912 he worked primarily with his brother Franz Gessner . After the end of the First World War , he soon became one of the leading architects for residential buildings in Vienna. During this time, the Karl-Seitz-Hof and the Reumannhof were established . With the “Anschluss” of Austria to the German Reich in 1938, however, he was banned from working and died during the Second World War .
One of the most famous works by Hubert Gessner is the Favoriten workers' home, built in the Art Nouveau style between 1901 and 1902 . During this activity he became friends with Victor Adler . However , he did not become a member of the Social Democratic Party .
