The Ratschkybad is a listed and decommissioned public bath ("Tröpferlbad") in Vienna's 12th district of Meidling .

history

The municipal public bath at Ratschkygasse 26 was built between 1924 and 1926 according to plans by Josef Bittner together with Hubert Gessner and Adolf Stöckl .

In the last few years of its existence, numerous renovation and modernization measures were carried out (1993–1995: heating and ventilation system, hot water preparation, new individual showers; 1996: installation of a steam bath; 1998: conversion from oil heating to district heating).

The Ratschkybad was officially closed in January 2006 due to water damage until further notice and has meanwhile been advertised for sale by the Municipal Department (MA) 69 - Property Management.

The building was placed under a preservation order by the Federal Monuments Office on November 29, 1993 .

The Ratschkybad was built on an area of ​​844 square meters and has a usable area of ​​approximately 1,685 square meters with a maximum building height of 18 meters. Its equipment included a sauna bath , a steam chamber and a solarium . The shower bath offered either individual showers (cabin showers) or a communal shower (box shower).

The bathroom with the high gable facade shows late forms of the Heimat style and is decorated with small reliefs. The vestibule was lined with red marble and has a wall fountain with the stone relief " Bathing ".
