KG location

The slightly smaller than life-size figure with a metal canopy and grille, standing directly on the road to the castle driveway, stands on a cranked stone plinth with the donor's inscription by Josephus Graf Pergen (1723–66) and the coat of arms of the neighboring lords of the castle. The statue was made based on that of the St. Vitus Bridge in Prague with a curved body, a canon gown and a priest's board. Nepomuk holds a crucifix and a palm tree in his hands. At his feet, a putto supports a round, empty vessel with a halo, which was probably once filled with votive offerings. St. Johannes is in extremely good, hardly weathered condition.

Feistritz Castle was probably built by ministerials in the 12th century . The system is enclosed by a wall, with a Roman Palas inserted at the northern narrow side with abgemauertem outwardly projecting northeast keep, later Hungerturm and southern Palas were. It was owned by the Pottendorfer from the 14th century until 1488, and the Zinzendorfer until 1537. In 1485, 1529 and 1683 it was besieged in vain. At the end of the 15th century, a late Gothic renovation took place, the complex went to the Rottal family in 1547 and to the Lords of Pergen in 1681. In 1685, extensive renovations began: the entrance was moved from east to west, a new gate tower with a drawbridge, a multi-storey wing outside the wall and the two loggias and an outside staircase were built in the courtyard; A powder store was set up in the southeastern kennel (later stables) and the eastern kennel became a menagerie . The castle went to Dietrich von Dietrichsberg in 1815, who carried out a renovation in the Romantic style, set up a castle theater in the north wing and laid out the park. In 1922 Maximilian Mautner bought the property, which was extensively renovated by the architect Marischka. An army museum was set up in the castle, the holdings of which are now in the Army History Museum in Vienna. After 1960 the facility was adapted to a conference center.
