KG location
: Reichenau
The wood giant in the Eng appears for the first time in 1343 as "Feicht Rießen". In 1784, the construction of a new giant was recorded in a contract between the Neuberg monastery and the court chamber in the minting and mining industry, which was built in 1784/85 under the direction of the brothers Johann and Georg Hubmer , important designers of wood transport systems. The total length was 7 km in two branches, the Krummbachriese and the Lackerbodenriese, which united shortly before the Eng, with which the wooden giant led from the Gahns through the Eng-Graben to Reichenau. In 1941 the municipality of Vienna bought the area from Count Hoyos , in 1950 the giant was repaired for the last time and decommissioned in 1963. For long stretches the ruins of the giant have been preserved. A 50-meter-long section was reconstructed in 1981 by the City of Vienna's Forestry Office .

Note: the location refers to the part reconstructed in 1981.
