Since 1272 the land and later chapel were owned by the women's choir monastery in Kirchberg am Wechsel . After the Corona statue was found in 1504 and the first wooden chapel was built, a stone building (original chapel) was built in 1583, which was consecrated to St. Corona in 1591 . In 1689/90 the church was built including the original chapel and consecrated in 1695 as a branch of the parish Kirchberg am Wechsel. After it was profaned in 1782, it was re-consecrated in 1832 and in 1943 it was elevated to a parish.

The church is a mighty building facing north with a hipped roof and ridge turrets. The southern gable front facing the street is dominated by arched windows and a central group of portal windows. The main portal has a segmental arch with a pilaster frame and a blown gable. Along the east wall, low chapel extensions are attached under a pent roof, the middle one with a protruding polygonal end being the original chapel.
