history

Since 1272 the property and the later chapel have been owned by the women's choir in Kirchberg am Wechsel. In 1504 a corona statue was found and the first wooden chapel was built. The stone chapel built in 1583, also known as the original chapel, was consecrated in 1591. Today's pilgrimage church was built from 1689 to 1690, with the original chapel being integrated as an extension. The branch of the parish and collegiate church in Kirchberg am Wechsel was consecrated as a pilgrimage church in 1695. With the profanation of the women's choir in Kirchberg am Wechsel, the church in St. Corona was also profaned. The pilgrimage church was consecrated again in 1832 and raised to parish church in 1943. Restorations took place from 1855 to 1860 and 1902. Another renovation was carried out in 1985.

architecture

The simple church building with plastering in the plaster is oriented to the north and has chapel extensions under a pent roof in the east , with the older original chapel integrated in the middle with a protruding polygonal end. The southern gable front has a segmented main portal with a pilaster frame and a blown gable and a central portal-window group from the 17th century.

The interior of the nave shows a three- bay hall under a needle cap barrel , a retracted triumphal arch and an apse with a needle cap wreath. The church windows in the west wall have arched window reveals . In the east, three deep, low chapel-like additions with groined vaults with pressed, round-arched arcades are connected to the nave. The central original chapel is slightly inclined to the nave and has arched windows and a three-eighth closure.

The vaults in the nave and the central chapel have stucco decorations with long passes and ridge accompaniments with pearl rods from the 17th century. Murals of St. Barbara, Corona, Victor and Cäcila were painted by the painter Franz Schönbrunner in 1902. The stained glass from 1899 show depictions of saints.
