The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is a Chinese garden in the Canadian city of Vancouver . It is located on Carrall Street in Vancouver's Chinatown and consists of a freely accessible park and a garden, the visit is chargeable.
The architects Joe Wai and Donald Vaughan were responsible for the design of the outer park, the landscape architect Wang Zu-Xin and other experts from Suzhou for the inner park . Funding was provided by the Canadian and Chinese governments, the Vancouver Chinese community, and other public and private donors. The opening took place on April 24, 1986, just in time for the world exhibition Expo 86 .
The garden is named after the Chinese revolutionary leader and statesman Sun Yat-sen , who lived in exile in Vancouver for several years.
